Hidden along a quiet mews lane deep in West London, this family base never seems to end. A sense of luxury is present across all three floors, from the lounge’s creamy sofas to one beckoning bathroom after another. We especially adore the five-star kitchen, and how each bedroom unusually incorporates sitting space – or even a small terrace in one case. The snaking staircase is eye-catching, too, although it could tire out toddlers.

Home truths
To get to the fifth bedroom you have to go through the fourth - this would be fine for families with kids, but could be an issue for groups of friends
This home is arranged across three floors so there are lots of stairs to negotiate - probably not suitable for toddlers
As there's a hot water tank, lots of consecutive showers might drain it and mean you have to wait for it to refill

About Kensington
Affluent and incredibly central, Kensington is a great base for exploring London on foot. Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park are on your doorstep and so are the Victoria and Albert, Science, and Natural History Museums. The streets are attractive and well maintained (grand, white stucco facades aplenty) and your neighbours will be a wealthy, conservative set. Lots of positives but probably not the place to let your hair down.
